  • Essentials of Ball Bearings

Posted on July 29th, 2010 No comments

Ball bearings are usually accustomed to help decrease friction and they are also used to bear heavy loads. A standard unit that utilizes a ball bearing has no less than two channels that include the particular balls, which along with the load, is transmitted through the balls. Ball bearings additionally aren’t adept to carry as many loads as much as most other bearings since the contact section between the channel as well as balls are a good deal smaller. They really are extremely popular because of their minuscule design as well as low price tag. Ball bearings are most likely the preferred kind of bearing in our day. They are found inside automobiles, on roller skates, and even on hard drives, due to their small weight capability, they have a tendency to be found on objects when the weight is not extremely heavy.

Ball bearings are usually comprised of chrome steel, ceramic, as well as mostly, stainless metal. The purpose of ball bearings is to try to make an object spin. The actual bearing basically appears like a metallic sphere, even though ball bearings can appear extremely distinctive based on their dimensions along with what the bearing may be used for. Several ball bearings appear a whole like a donut and may not be noticeable when facing the object, other people are entirely concealed from that view and have no knowledge of it. The best of the lot are the ceramic ball bearings

When analyzing a single bearing, one can see that it is circular as well as made from a certain kind of metal which works with numerous additional balls with the same exact shape and size. These additional balls mutually produce a rotating action. Several ball bearings are hence big and hard to lift, while some are equally as tiny as peanuts. Inside the bearing, metal balls sway which allows the item attached to spin. The conduit that the ball bearings spin in is often known as the race.

The metal balls inside the bearing are likely to become very warm or extremely hot while rolling roughly at an increased rate of speed. The reason for this is certainly friction, and heat is among the most typical tribulation so as to cause ball bearings to stop working. Moreover, precipitation as well as dew which may make the balls rust, stop them from rotating. To avoid high temperature along with moister, the ball bearings need to be lubricated properly. Greasing the ball bearings may also reduce the high temperature from friction, which may give the ball bearing a longer and better performance rate. There are many kinds of bearings and different bearings need different lubricants, as a result ensure that you choose the best one. You can read about ceramic ball bearings working here.

  • What does the Oil Gauge tell me?

Posted on June 16th, 2010 No comments

The oil pressure gauge on your car’s dashboard is used to tell you how much pressure the oil in your car’s engine is under. Not, as many people think, how much oil there is the engine. Although if the level of oil falls then so does the pressure, sometimes dramatically so.

One of the most important maintenance checks that you can perform as a driver is to check the oil level is within the manufacturer’s recommended minimum and maximum levels. There are few things that can damage an engine as quickly as low oil pressure, that is why whenever you see the oil gauge come on or go into the red on your instrument panel you should always take immediate action. The essential role of oil is explained in more detail at the oil pressure gauge guide blog, an excellent site if you really want to understand what goes on inside your car’s engine.

Low oil pressure doesn’t happen overnight. You’ll get a warning with plenty of time to spare as long as you are paying attention to the pressure gauge. Sometimes it is not enough just to keep on topping up the level of oil. You should also change your oil completely every 3000 miles or so because one of the roles of oil is to clean and protect the engine. One of the ways it does this is to hold microscopic debris in suspension in the oil, which stops it from being compressed against the metal in the engine causing wear and tear. If you’ve ever seen new oil you’ll know it’s an amber color, but the oil that comes out of your car is black as the engine’s detritus is collected by the oil. This is one of the reasons to change oil. But I’d warn you against a cheap car oil change because oil is a so critical the money spent on a quality oil is money well spent.

  • Creating The Perfect Garage Floor Cover

Posted on May 28th, 2010 No comments

The garage is an essential attachment to many homes throughout the country. The garage can be a place where one can store important items or conduct a variety of activities. Many garages have been transformed into a home auto shop, home gym, or woodworking area. When one is remodeling or building their home’s garage, it is smart to choose heavy duty components that will last for years to come, including a sturdy garage floor.

Garage flooring ranges in the materials used and design. Concrete is a popular material, due to its sturdiness. However, having a concrete floor can be detrimental at times, because it can be damaged by heavy objects and even absorb certain liquids, causing stains. The solution is to invest in a garage floor cover.

One may choose to apply a sealer to their floor, or to go over the original material with a layer of a more resistant or suitable product. What type of approach one chooses depends on what they use their garage for, where it is located, and who is using the garage. For someone who has a home gym in their garage, a mat covering made of rubber or a similar material can be useful to reduce the impact of weights and other heavy objects against the concrete. One can purchase matting to cover the entire floor or simply area mats to cover parts of the garage. If one uses their garage building as an auto shop, a sealant made of a material like epoxy can cover the floor completely and prevent materials like oil from penetrating and causing a stain. In most cases, this coating is clear and not noticeable.

One can often find coating options at their local home supply store. Independent contracting companies may offer these materials as well as their services in installing them.

  • Making good use of you’re Honda CBR600f4i manual

Posted on May 14th, 2010 No comments

Anyone who owns a motorcycle knows that eventually, like all motorized vehicles, repairs will be needed. Depending on how often and the manner in which you ride, you may be fixing or repairing your bike quite often. This can become a very expensive habit that you may want to curtail. Whether mechanically inclined or not, it’s always a good idea to have your owners manual handy. In this case we are referring to the Honda CBR600f4i manual.

Like all other owners manuals, it contains information and specs that are specific to your bike. This is important for when you need to know precise information on your particular model. Do-it-yourself repairs can be done if you know what parts to buy and how to disassemble, then replace parts. Common repairs on sportbikes include: oil filter replacement, brake pads, clutch repair, spark plug replacement, and the list goes on. The Honda CBRf4i manual not only contains mechanical specs, but also has information relating to the fairings and framework of the bike, which is useful in the event of some exterior damage caused by dropping the bike. The removal of the fairings is a relatively simple procedure that can be accomplished with minimal effort or experience.

Intake and exhaust systems details are also available if you’d like to change your pipes for something a little louder, or perhaps you’d like to use Carbon Fiber pipes to reduce the risk of injury to yourself or a passenger, since stock pipes do tend to heat up quickly and present a hazard. Your manual goes on to list everything in great detail about this bike. From electrical systems to fluids, engine replacement and shocks. Owning the CBRf4i manual is essential for anyone who owns this bike. It’s a decision that will save you both time and money in the long run.

  • How To – Use Axle Stands Safely

Posted on May 10th, 2010 No comments

Everybody has to raise their car to do routine maintenance to it now and again, so you should have good axle stands on hand to support the full weight of your vehicle, for safety sake.  Without the axle stands, your car may fall off whatever you have holding it up, and if you or some other person is under it, it could maim or even kill you.

I have been around many vehicles that were on jacks, being worked on, when the jack slipped and the metal chassis came crashing down and bounced when it hit the ground.  Luckily, nobody was under the vehicle when it fell, but to see and hear a car crashing down and bouncing around really makes you see you do not want to be down there if one should fall.  It takes only a little while to install these jacks, and then you can safely work under and around your vehicle.

Following are the directions to use the axle stands:

    Axel stands

    Axel stands or something better?

         (1) Lift the front of your car with a jack, such as a trolley jack.  Make sure the front wheel is at least a few inches up off of the ground before you can move on to step 2.

         (2) Just in back of the wheel area, is a jack point that should be obvious, hopefully you can see it near the wheel or right next to the axle.  In case you are unable to find it, check the manual for the car to see where it should be put, then position the axle stands under the selected area.  You should take your time with this, as it is the most important part, to insure that the vehicle is securely on those stands.

         (3) After you have the stands where they go, slowly and carefully start lowering the car a bit at a time.  The stands will start to hold the vehicle up by themselves.

         (4) When the full weight of your vehicle is on the stands, and the jack is free, take the jack out.  When you are back on your feet and no one is under the elevated car, rock it with your hands to ensure that it is stable.

Good, you have now stabilized your car to ensure it is safe for you to work on.  Ratchet axle stands are the best ones to get as they have the most stability, as well as being easy to lower and raise.  Now, you better get busy!

The car decal is one object that is completely versatile and can be used in many different ways for a variety of purposes.  Most often a car decal is though of as being found only on hot rod race cars or one you can pick up at your local auto parts store. Now that the increase use of the car decal is being used in many different areas, this preconceived idea is no longer valid. A decal can be used for business or pleasure. Depending upon what you need the decal for; it will serve its purpose.

The image of a stock car, brightly decorated with wide decal stripe is what flashes through ones mind when the word “decal” is mentioned. Although the decal is used in this facet, there are many other added benefits one will receive with a car decal.

Carports are typically only large enough to fit one car, tractor, or boat.  There are however, many sizes to choose from including ones that are large enough to fit an RV.  Most metal carport shelters are used for more than just storing a vehicle.  Many are used as a space for a workbench or where car repairs can be completed.  There are many styles of carports to choose from including semi-attached and stand alone models.  Semi-attached shelter is designed to be installed adjacent to your home or another large building.  Stand alone shelter can be installed anywhere on your property as long as there is ample space.  Some companies have begun offering carport rentals.  The fees typically include the delivery, assembly, and any maintenance the structure may require during your rental period.  Before choosing to rent a shelter, compare the cost of renting to purchasing to determine if you can save money by getting your own.

  • Drunk Driving and Car Insurance

Posted on September 28th, 2009 No comments

Auto insurance companies as well as the states are cracking down on drunk drivers harder than ever before. Drivers used to be able to gather DUI’s left and right without any severe consequence back in the day, but now a single DUI can mean a license suspension for an entire year. Auto insurance companies are unable to use your race, religion, residence, age, or occupation to deny your coverage.
However, driver license suspensions, excessive traffic violations, or felony charges are all options that states allow insurance companies to use to cancel your insurance policy. DUI customers are often given higher rates but can also face cancelled policies or not sending a renewal notice. Take a look at Arlington Auto Insurance for everything you want to know about auto insurance.
