While the bestselling Kindle cover from Amazon claims to protect your Kindle from damage, it may be that it is the cause of many cracked screens instead. Currently there is a federal class action by Beth Terrell with Terrell Marshall & Daudt against Amazon with claims that the case has caused over $5 million in damages.

The argument that if a product is designed to protect the Kindle then it should be liable if it in fact causes it damage.

The problem is with the clips that hold the Kindle securely in place, when bent the wrong way can cause pressure on the ebook reader screen causing cracks that cost anywhere from $200 to repair.

Up until recently Amazon was refusing to deal with the complaint but now is saying that they will honour all repairs at no cost to the customer.
