  • Job Search Help for Entry Level Candidates

Posted on January 27th, 2010 No comments

In today’s economy finding a job is a full time job in and of itself. You have to be able to have patience, persistence and determination. In a sluggish economy it can especially be tough on accounting entry level jobs. When revenue is down there is not as much of a need for extra people in accounting. In sales it can be different. Companies may actually boost their sales department in a downturn in order to try to produce more revenue. If you are just starting your career in accounting, take hope. Here are three things you should do.

    1.  Improve Your Resume – You need to have a targeted accounting resume for the open position posted. You have to target the resume  specifically to the job. Firms no longer hire generalist for their open jobs. They want specialist. You have to be able to paint yourself into the position to be successful. use the same verbiage that the job description does and really try to speak directly to the hiring manager.

    2. Talk with Everyone – we can have a tendency to believe that only certain people hold the right powers and are able to help us in our job search. What most of us fall to remember is that everyone knows someone. Even people who are not related to accounting whatsoever might be able to land you that job you have been looking for. Remember this important principle your whole career: people buy on the approval of others. A good recommendation can go far.

    3. Keep Your Head Up – It is easy to take a job search personal. You face rejection after rejection after rejection and wonder if things are ever going to go your way. It will in time but you have to become the right person to gt hired. If you walk into that interview feeling defeated, then that is exactly how you will come across.  Companies hire people with energy.

  • Get Better Grades in Life

Posted on November 5th, 2009 No comments

It is not an extraordinary thing when we see many students have problems at school, either academic problems, behavior problems, or even personal problems. Those problems will influence their self performance. And just like disease, it also can spread among others who are around them and influenced by them.

Based on my experiences, we have to be in balance, balance means we do not need to be totally serious and we do not need to be so relaxed that we quit caring about results.   It is very important to strive to achieve a balance in our lives. For sure we will have problems thorough our life but face it calmly, and in balance.  It is normal to face challenges.  We have to adapt overcome and realize that it is part of life.  We have to enjoy it when we can.

School is a place full of memories; we can ask our parents, teachers, and any other person older than ourselves about this fact.  They miss their school time no matter how long ago that was.   When you are there, or anywhere in your life, do your best.  Just remembering this can help you to get better grades or achieve more in any endeavor.

  • The maze of unemployment claims

If the employment is your primary source of income, then you know how important it is to keep your job. Not every one can run their own business and earn a living. Let’s be honest, it is simply not practical. For the rest of us, job is precious the thought of unemployment could be a nightmare. Experts advise that employees  should keep up to date with the happenings and the trends in their field, so that you have an idea if your job is in the line. At the same time, when the unfortunate things happen, you should be prepared.

Filing for unemployment benefits is no easy job by any means. It is probably easier to get another job than to apply for unemployment, get qualified and receive the check, which would only cover a small portion of your living expenses anyway. Here are some resources to help you with unemployment insurance

Documents required while filing unemployment benefits:

    • Social security card
    • Separation notice from employer
    • Names and addresses of your employers for the last 18 months, with the dates you worked at each place.
    • Proof of immigration status if you are not a citizen of the United States.
    • If you want to apply for direct deposit of your unemployment insurance benefits, bring a check with your account number and your bank’s routing number.
    • For former Military/Government members only: If you separated from the military in the last 18 months, bring DD214 Member 4. If you worked for the federal government in the last 18 months, bring Standard Form 50 and Standard Form 8. If you do not have Standard Form 50, please bring a W-2 form or pay stubs and your wages will be estimated.

  • Prepare Yourself For Student Loans

Posted on October 12th, 2009 No comments

You don’t know how much money you need for college. You don’t even know what type of student loan is right for you. So many to chose from. So many factors to consider.

Your first step in understanding, unraveling, and demystifying this student loan game is to talk with a student loan lender. Ask questions. Get answers. Don’t leave until your satisfied, until you know what your getting into.

Even if you do know how much tuition will be, there are still other expenses you will incur. How bout books? Lab fees maybe? Something you may want to consider adding to your student loan amount is food and gas. The point is, make sure you include all expenses that you will incur for school that you cannot pay for yourself.

Read Aaron’s article about student loan consolidation rate.

  • Reading Travel Books

Posted on September 30th, 2009 No comments

Have you ever browsed the travel books section at your local Borders or Barnes and Noble? I’m ashamed to admit that my first foray digging through those not so dusty tomes at Borders was no more than just a couple days ago. What struck me wasn’t the shear number of travel books out there but rather how many different TYPES of travel books there are laying about those shelves. Sure there are the typical guide books, the Lonely Planets and the Frommers, that purport to tell you where all the interesting stuff to look at is but there are books on general planning, books on travel by bike, by car, by train, by plane, by rv. It’s staggering how much information is just sitting there on those shelves waiting to help show you the world. Then there are my personal favorites: the travel narratives. Sometimes dramatic, but more often than not, these are the lighthearted looks at culture clashes the world over and nearly always constitute an enjoyable read…if only to laugh at someone else’s misery.

Posted on August 9th, 2009 No comments

Figuring out how to find an attorney is a stressful and, sometimes, a confusing decision.

Getting the right lawyer can make the difference between a meaningful settlement of your legal issue or claim or permanent regret when the outcome is against you.

So, whether you are wrongfully accused of a crime, sustained injuries in an accident, of have been sexually harassed at work, you must find lawyers that are competent and affordable.

So, where do you find an attorney that is experienced and affordable?

Television Advertising Is Not The Best Way To Find Attorneys

Many people find attorneys by calling the phone numbers on those cheesy radio and television advertisements.  Don’t become enamored by the multitude of television advertisements of lawyers.

Most of the time, these attorneys will sign you up as a client, refer you to another law firm and get a referral fee.

Find An Attorney With Internet Referral Services

Searching for an attorney on the Internet is a little more complicated than simply going to yahoo and typing “find lawyer” or “find attorney.”  However, there are many online legal directories that are set up to help you in your attorney search.

You will find a lawyer that has usually been prescreened competence, experience, and, sometimes, affordability.  Most attorneys are sorted by state; and, the best legal directories provide information regarding legal fees, practice areas, geographic practice area and other important data.

Do Your Homework Before Beginning Your Attorney Search

When you need to find a lawyer fast, avoid the temptation to quickly sign up with an attorney that advertises heavily on television.  Instead, use an online matching service to .  But, do consider online matching services that will do more to match your personal injury needs.

  • Online LVN programs

Posted on July 31st, 2009 No comments

An LVN program is a course put on by an LVN school to provide training and experience for students in their quest to qualify as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, or LVN. The LVN qualification is equivalent to the LPN qualification, but the term Licensed Vocational Nurse is the term used predominantly in the states of Texas and California.

In a similar way to the way in which LPN schools offer online LPN programs, schools in both California and Texas offer online LVN programs. Because they are online you can train to qualify on the first rung of the nursing ladder without actually having to live in those particular states.

This is particularly useful if you live in a remote location in one of these very large states, or if there does not happen to be a suitable LVN school in close enough proximity to your location to be practical.

  • Looking For Fast Student Loans?

Well, don’t look any further. There are many sites out there that offer them, and you should check them out, but first you need to think about a few things…

Getting a fast student loan is quicker than any other type of loan. It can be done online and you can be approved in minutes. They don’t care about your credit history, good or bad, and you usually get your money very quickly as opposed to waiting for your credit score to be checked out.

Unfortunately, one thing to note about getting a fast student loan is, since the company is approving you so fast, you need to consider how much the interest payments are. Many times websites won’t display them because they are so high and you’ll have to “dig deep” into the site or fine print to find out what the price is.

Whatever your loan choice, fast student loans online will always be a quick and easy solution to the process of getting student loans.
