Other Alternatives to Taking Diet Tea
Posted on August 28th, 2010 No commentsLosing weight can be very frustrating especially if you are not getting the result you expect. There are many different products available to lose weight and to detox including herbal detox and herbal cleanse. There is also diet products that are herbal in nature such as diet tea. Diet tea has some adverse effects and besides, it is not the only way to lose weight. There are other ways that do not affect your body.

You should make sure you have more fruits and vegetables on your diet and less fats and sugars. Sometimes, this may be very difficult but once you get accustomed, it gets easier.
2. Most of the people who want to lose weight do not want to exercise. Exercising is very important because it leads to increased activity and heart rate. This results to increases metabolic rate and the rate at which your body is burning calories.
3. Dieting and exercising is not easy so you should find a friend who will help and motivate you. You should especially find someone who wants to lose weight so that can compare your results. This helps motivate you and the same time make it fun.
4. You should use weights after you have gotten used to regular exercising. You can exercise for just 15 minutes for three days a week then increase the duration and the number of days per week. The weight help you burn fat as you increase the muscles in your body.
5. Change your diet. There is a difference between watching what you eat and changing your diet. If you a soda person and eat a lot of carbs, then you should change your diet. Replace everything in your fridge with low fat and low carb foods.
6. You should set a target. In order to feel motivated and to see results you need to set a target and then re-evaluate once you reach it. This way, you have something to work with.
You should opt for a way of losing weight that you are comfortable with and not necessarily taking diet tea. -
The Body Is A Finely Tuned Machine
Posted on June 13th, 2010 No commentsThe body is a finely tuned machine and the chemistry happening inside each one of us to keep things operating smoothly is truly amazing. Part of that chemistry occurs in our blood stream and keeping a normal blood sugar level is an important part of keeping us healthy.
Blood sugar or blood glucose comes from the food we eat. Carbohydrates are turned into glucose as they are digested and the glucose is absorbed into our bloodstream to be carried to the cells and tissues that need glucose for energy and food. Without glucose we would not have any energy and would feel tired all of the time. Our brains monitor blood sugar levels and send hunger signals when blood sugar falls to low levels. We eat more food and the cycle continues.
The key hormone in moving glucose from the bloodstream to the body parts that use it is insulin. Insulin is secreted by the pancreas in response to a rise in blood sugar. Our body uses it to move the glucose to where it can be utilized. Insulin is primary in attempting to keep blood sugar levels in normal ranges, never too high and never too low.
When this process gets out of balance health problems can occur and chronic high blood sugar issues can result in diabetes. Some people become resistant to the effects of insulin and their bodies secrete more and more in attempt to keep blood sugar in normal ranges. A prolonged time of this can cause the pancreas to slow down it’s ability to secrete and manufacture insulin and then outside insulin injections become necessary to restore that balance.
Keep your finely tuned machine in top running order by paying attention to the fuel you put inside of it and by exercising it to keep in good running condition.

Where to Get Your Knee Braces
Posted on June 12th, 2010 No commentsIf you have weak knees, have suffered a knee injury recently, or just want to prevent any knee injuries from happening during exercise, you need to start wearing knee braces. Your knees take a lot of punishment over time as you move because they are the main joints involved in pretty much anything related to the legs. Chronic knee pain can become a serious problem if not treated properly and the best treatment for it is preventative.
There are a few different ways to go about getting a knee brace but it is important to first decide which kind of knee brace you want. To determine the type of knee brace you need you must assess your injury or, if no injury has yet occurred, your activity level. If your injury is severe you should check with your Doctor to get the proper treatment and support but if it is simply a chronic pain caused by arthritis or strain you can use a certain type of knee brace. For injury prevention you can use athletic knee braces that are less constraining and more casual.
After you have decided which knee brace is right for you it is time to go shopping. The best place to stop first is your Doctor’s office. Your Doctor will be able to tell you exactly what kind of knee brace you need, if you need one at all, and will be able to point you in the right direction of where to find it.
If you need a specific type of knee brace or a custom made one you can shop online and send measurements in to have one fitted. Most pharmacies and physical therapist offices will sell knee braces of all different kinds and you will be able to find most athletic knee braces at sports equipment retailers.
For further information in regards to knee braces, sports injury prevention, and sports equipment you can check out the Sports Bag Blog.

Weight Lifting for Seniors
Posted on June 11th, 2010 No commentsWeight lifting for seniors have numerous health benefits. Senior citizens often had a hard time working out, due to physical pain, illnesses, and defects. Many seniors turn towards walking, water aerobics, in home step DVD programs, and bike riding for their fitness.
Most senior citizens overlook the positive benefits of weight lifting. Realistically, it doesn’t make sense for grandma and grandpa to be in the gym power lifting and squatting five hundred pounds. However, many standard exercises can be completed with everyday household objects from the safety of your own home or senior center.
Try doing bicep curls with a can of soup. Grab one can in each hand and slowly curl the can forward just like you would with a dumbbell and traditional bicep curls. Cans of varying weights can be used for different muscle groups and exercises. Use cans for tricep extensions, squats, forward and backward lunges, calf raises, cleans, and the fly.
Squeeze a tennis ball fifteen times with each wrist to improve wrist strength and forearm tendons. Complete three sets with each hand. This exercise will be particularly useful for tennis players and golfers, and overtime will relieve the stress, pressure, and pain from those suffering tennis elbow. Ball up full pages of newspaper starting in the middle using only your fingers and wrist muscles. Both of these exercises strengthen the wrist. The main cause of tennis elbow is a weak wrist, which causes the elbow to overcompensate and take on the majority of the pressure and stress.
Simple household exercises like these done a few times a week can drastically lower hospital bills and alleviate pain for seniors. Preventative health care starts at home with you. Living a life of increased motion will increase the longevity of most senior citizens. Make fitness part of our life today. Get more with P90X results or P90 workout.

Using Yoga Chairs at Work and at Home
Posted on June 7th, 2010 No commentsIt is really hard to get some good exercise done when you are at home or at work. Unless you have spent a lot of money on a home gym, you probably only do your exercises in a gym. I can show you a way that you can get a decent workout in without going to the gym. In fact, whether you are at the computer, hanging out with others, or just sitting and watching TV. You can also get this same workout while you are having to sit down at work throughout the day. The way that you are able to do this is by buying one of the yoga chairs, or yoga ball chairs, available on the market.
A yoga chair like this is a great replacement for the chair you are currently using at home and at work. An alternative to doing that, is by buying an exercise ball and just using that as a chair. One way that won’t really work is if you need to move around a lot in the chair, and in that case, you can get a yoga ball chair that has wheels on it. That way, you’ll both be able to move around, and get all of the workout benefits of using an exercise ball as a chair.
Some of the benefits include improving your balance, getting your metabolism going, and keeping it going too. Because you are needing to keep yourself upright while sitting on the exercise ball, that really strengthens your core muscles. Your core is the midsection area, such as the abdominal muscles. Some of the benefits on working on those core muscles is that you will be able to reduce some back pains, you’ll have greater looking abs, and you will also have a great figure. All in all, there are many benefits of switching to this different kind of chair both at your work and while you are at home.

Jumping Higher Exercises
Posted on June 7th, 2010 No commentsMany people think that in order to learn how to jump higher you have to squat thousands of pounds and that is not true. In fact, you might not even need to increase your squat at all depending on where it is right now. If you have strong legs, you just need to follow a jump program in order to speed up the muscle reaction.
If you are wondering how to jump higher, you will need to look into plyometric exercises. These exercises are exercises that involve movements that allow for quick muscle contraction on commencement of movements and immediate relaxation on the ceasing of movements. They include cone drills, lunges and box jumps. They are performed specifically to target the muscles in your legs and back and they serve to increase the responsiveness of your body. Furthermore, these exercises can be performed with weights too.
To perform box jumps, set up a number of boxes in a row with a small amount of space in between them. Jump over them with both your feet and land in the space between one box and another. Make your jumps fast and twitchy in style. To perform cone drills, set up a number of cones in a row then skip over them individually in a sideways motion. Repeat the exercise twice, alternating between legs.
If you incorporate plyometric exercises into your regular workout, you can significantly improve your vertical jump. Your workouts will require the inclusion of exercises focusing on the strengthening of the abdomen, back and legs. The strengthening of these muscles will help you to generate the power required for you to jump higher. Increasing the flexibility of your body will further help you to improve the height gained when you perform a vertical jump. The height of your jump will not be as great if you are suffering from tight muscles.

How to Have a Successful Juice Fast
Posted on June 7th, 2010 No commentsStarting a Juice Fast can be a scary thing if you are new to the natural health scene. I understand I am on my 3rd juice fast and I am still learning the right ways to survive it. The thing you’ve got to know and understand is that you are about to do something incredibly good for your body, health, and overall well-being. You’ll be a brand new person afterward and that is something to celebrate.
So, first start out choosing your juicer and setting your goals: weight loss, detoxification, healing from disease. Whatever your intentions you will receive MANY benefits so don’t worry if you slip up and eat some of your vegetable instead of drinking them. Not eating for thirty days and only drinking can be quite a challenge if you’ve never done it before. In principal you are to drink about a liter of vegetable juice per day for 21 to 30 days. Here are some tips to help stave off the hunger and desire to eat:
Make yourself a green vegetable smoothie powder drink in between your juicing
Drink an antioxidant red berry drink along with each juice you make
Boil a handful of hard chopped vegetables (carrots, broccoli, celery, etc) every evening and drink the broth, puree the rest and eat. Good to do whenever you are seriously hungry.
If you really have the desire to chew, I recommend making yourself a little raw food feast such as: a fruit salad with nothing but fresh fruits (pineapples, apples, grapes, watermelon, orange slices, kiwi, etc..), and of course a raw vegetable salad (cucumber, lettuce, carrots, broccoli, avocado (mmm…), radishes, sprouts, and lemon juice.
These little tips will keep you on track with your weight-loss, detox, or healing goals while at the same time allowing you to eat and not be too uncomfortable while your body heals and purges all of the toxins it has stored up. These habits will become a part of the new you that you will have a hard time letting them go long after your juice fast. Integrate these raw eating habits into your life as a way to maintain optimal health and constant detoxification.
Good luck!!

The Benefits of Cardio Conditioning
Posted on May 9th, 2010 1 commentCardio conditioning helps make a stronger heart and a stronger body. Here are some of the known benefits that can be achieved after performing a series of cardio conditioning exercises:
1. It improves heart functions. Cardio conditioning effectively lowers blood pressure and reduces your resting heart rate. This allows your heart to increase its stamina and make the heart more able to perform a series of exercises with ease. Since cardio conditioning is an effective way of losing weight by getting the heart to beat faster and burn more calories. This fitness option is best for those with health conditions.
2. It improves the lungs. After a series of continued workouts, the lungs will feel dramatically stronger too. Cardio exercise improves breathing and helps enable more oxygen to circulate around the body.
3. It’s not costly. Cardio conditioning does not require any expensive equipment. The only thing required is for your body to be active and start to circulate blood through your body.
4. It’s safe and healthy. Cardio conditioning is a healthy approach towards fitness and that’s why it is heavily endorsed. This workout is actually the least risky because instead of pressuring the body into exhaustion, it conditions the heart to be able to “go the extra mile”.
Cardio conditioning exercises can build leaner muscles together as it develops stamina. It helps the muscles to tone faster as you burn calories. Cardio alone cannot provide huge muscles because it geared towards your heart and circulatory system.
If you want to develop bigger muscles you should adjust your cardio routines by adding some weight and resistance training. You can do both cardio conditioning and weight training at the same time. A lot of times, body builders will actually reduce their cardio exercises, because they don’t want burn to many calories and end up burning muscle mass. However, if you want to intensify your cardio workouts, then you should consider buying a heart rate monitor. Good heart rate monitors include the Suunto T1 and the Suunto T4c.
