  • Buying Baby Onesies the Inexpensive Way

Posted on July 22nd, 2010 No comments

There are so many new parents who feel compelled to buy brand new baby clothes when the little one arrives. Take a stroll through the aisle of any department store, supermarket or baby store and you will find adorable onesies sold both separately and in packs containing three to six garments.

Some stores do sell baby clothes for affordable prices, so buying new baby onesies may be a reasonable option for you. Many times baby items found at the local retailer may be priced a bit higher than you want to pay. If you find yourself in this situation, consider going to consignment shops, local garage sales and flea markets to see if you can locate someone selling baby onesies second hand. If you do not want to waste time and money scouring the neighborhood, check online at craigslist for some more affordable offers.

Since babies grow out of their clothes so fast, you will often find used onesies that are in excellent condition or even nearly new. The best part is they do not cost nearly as much as the same garment brand new. You need to check the item carefully for milk stains because they cannot be removed. You want to avoid anything that is obviously soiled or torn.

Choose a onesie that is practical as well as cute. In general, babies hate to be restrained while they are being dressed and undressed. It is best to buy onesies that slip on and off easily to speed up the process as much as you can. Check the label and make sure the one you choose does not need special care. Polyester and cotton are preferable because they are easily laundered and will keep their shape if properly cared for.

When shopping for infant clothes before you give birth, make some selections in sizes that will fit in three to six months. Babies will outgrow newborn sizes so fast, you will be glad that you stayed a step ahead and did not waste your money on clothes that will never or hardly ever be used. This practical tip will save you money and aggravation in the long run.

If you insist on buying new baby clothes it is best to avoid officially licensed products that are associated with major league sports teams and corporations like Disney. These items will be much more expensive than generic brands or lower end brands and you will have just as many choices. You will find quality single colored onesies as well as ones with butterflies, flowers, teddy bears and more.
