The whole of the Languedoc Roussillon France is a great destination for nature lovers and those who like to get out and about on their vacation. However there is one department in particular that you should visit and explore if you are a keen trekker or rambler, the Lozere. This part of the South of France is to the northern limits of the Languedoc and is little known even to the French, indeed it is the least populated area of France, with barely 75,000 inhabitants.

Of course this lack of “other people” is part of the reason it is so attractive if you’re the kind of person who likes to get away from it all. Mile upon mile of unspoilt natural beauty spreads out in front of you and if you’re a fan of flora and fauna you won’t be disappointed. Hey they even have bison here in the Lozere!
