First off, the most obvious thing to avoid is driving while tired whether as a result of lack of sleep or as a result of drugs (illegal or prescription) or the consumption of alcohol. The main reasoning here is that many people push themselves because they need to get somewhere so they ignore the signs that indicate that they should not be driving. Knowing the details of prescription or over the counter medicine is another important thing that all drivers should know.
What amount of avoidance is the correct amount?
It is obvious that if your prescription medicine says that it may make you drowsy then you need to completely avoid driving while taking it. Sleepiness is a little more vague. You need to know your body and not take chances.
And how to know what’s sufficient avoidance?Clearly, if you start to drive and feel drowsy, you should have avoided driving in the first place.

In this case you may want to try caffeinated beverages. However, a better solution is a physical gadget that awakens you if you are falling asleep.
