What Makes GPS Car Tracking Work?
Posted on August 28th, 2009 No commentsThe basic principles that you need to understand how GPS car tracking works comes from the field of geometry. The principle has a name and it is called trilateration. How it works is like this, if you know the location of three or more objects and you also know your distance from all those objects you can also know exactly where you are at at the present moment. It is really simple if you think about it, but it can get significantly more complex when we start talking about GPS tracking.
You see, GPS tracking involves satellites that sit in orbit over the earth. The are the objects that we know where they are located from the definition above. They send out a radio signal which contains some important information, like the time that the transmission was sent. Once a GPS car tracking device receives the signal it then calculates its distance from the know object (the satellite) by multiplying the speed of the signal by the amount of time it took to reach the receiver.
It is in this way that the GPS knows exactly where you are in the world and track things like your car.

GPS Fleet Tracking Take Times To Implement
Posted on August 24th, 2009 No commentsIf you are a company looking to improve your business by implementing GPS fleet tracking then you are not alone. Hundreds of companies have turned to this technological solution to an age old problem: how do I get more from my current business while also making it run more efficiently? Also, most companies want to increase output while also decreasing expenses - feat that is the dream of all types of businesses, not just those that employ a fleet of vehicles.
Fortunately, there can be all sorts of benefits to using GPS fleet tracking for businesses. One benefit is a reduction in the overall cost associated with running a fleet. This mainly comes from being able to monitor fleet activity and reduce a large amount of worker waste in the form of not actually working at work. Also, gas consumption also seems to decrease once a GPS tracking system has been implemented. Another benefit often experienced by those companies that employ a GPS fleet tracking scheme is that they also see more work orders filled – as much as 25% more.
But these types of results don’t come overnight with fleet tracking. Instead, they can take up to two years according to some industry studies.

Make The Most of Your Car GPS
Posted on June 5th, 2009 No commentsMost people have a GPS in their car these days. The vast majority of this is for navigation purposes and either resides in a personal GPS device or a GPS enable cell phone. These devices get you from point A to point B very effectively, making trips out on the town much more efficient.
But did you know that you can get a GPS tracking unit for cars? Most of these devices won’t let you navigate in the world like a navigation GPS will, but they do have their own set of powerful attributes and abilities.
All car trackers come in one of two varieties – a data logger or a data pusher. Loggers do exactly what is sound like they do: they log position information for you to download later. Pusher take position data and push it out to someplace else so that other can know your position.
If you want to track a car in real time you want a data pusher. If you just want a log of where a car has been you just need a data logger.
