  • Feel Like You Are Paying Too Much For a Printer?

Posted on March 6th, 2010 No comments

Are you interested in spending way too much money on a decent printer? If so, please read on. I will be able to provide you with details on how to go about making this purchase. I will also include features and performance stats for this small travel printer, so you will know if you should bother spending the extra money. And why not spend extra money? With the somewhat recent stock market crash, everyone has finally admitted that money isn’t that important. Why bother saving money for your retirement? Or to help feed your family? Or to pay for any other necessary life expenses? If you’re enjoying this rant so far, you might be disappointed by the end of this article.

The HP DeskJet 460WBT Mobile Printer is currently selling used for $160 on Amazon. And, yes, that is the best price you will find. The price has become such a popular topic on message boards that it’s now referred to as the $50 million dollar portable printer. At the same time, these same reviewers have given high ratings for this model. A lot of that probably has to do with the 460WBT offering Bluetooth connectivity via a CompactFlash slot. Another reason could be print resolution, which can reach as high as 4800 dots per inch. Perhaps speed is the reason? It is pretty impressive for a small travel printer, coming in at 17 pages per minute black and 16 pages per minute color. A 50-sheet input tray is nothing to sneeze at. And what about a lithium-ion battery? Or the opportunity to use Wi-Fi hot spots? Okay, it must be the terrific quality of the text.

Hmm… I’m beginning to sense something here. Why would reviewers rate this model so high and then bash the price? Something tells me consumers are happy with the product, but once someone began complaining about the price, everyone else jumped in. Can’t blame them. Human nature. If you want quality, you’re going to have to pay for it. That’s the deal with the HP DeskJet 460WBT Mobile Printer. Take it or leave it.

I travel a lot for work and have a lot of paperwork to complete and hand in. I bring my laptop with me, but I rely on the hotel I am staying at to have a printer or a Staples or Office Max to be near by. If you are like me you might want to find a good portable printer for a laptop to bring with you. There are a lot of things to consider when looking for your portable printer.

What are you mainly going to be using it for and how much room do you have to carry it? Do you fly a lot and need to pack it in your carry-on or will it be in your car and can be a little bigger? There are printers that are simple bars that you slide the paper in one at a time to print out your document. Other printers are just smaller versions of a regular printer. Some printers have scanners in them. Some are able to print pictures directly from your digital camera or a memory card. And there are ones require thermal paper or photo paper. Many have car charger kits available for when you don’t have an outlet available. Some have Bluetooth so you can print from a mobile phone.

A printer that uses regular paper and can print photos would be around $100- $150 and have different accessories, like car chargers and Bluetooth adapters so the total price could be a little higher with the accessories you need. They are a little larger, but a little more versatile. A smaller hand held printers are thermal printers so will need different paper, but you won’t need to buy ink. They are from $350- $600. You can also get them for printing labels. There are a lot of choices and everyone has different needs so do some of your own research and find the portable printer for the needs you have. We are all living a portable lifestyle.

It’s amazing how technology has changed the way people live. It has changed how people go about with their daily lives. From the moment of waking up, to the simplest interactions, to basically everything, there is not one moment that cannot be attributed to technology.

Take portability for example. Technology has come to a point where it allows you to do things, which you normally do at home, practically anywhere, you want. It has made chores easier for you as you can literally reach out to clean any area at home with the use of a portable vacuum cleaner. You can even have one of those that include a car charger so you can bring it with you in one of your travels.

Portability has permeated man’s way of life so that one can say, that he has at least one thing that is portable. Portable MP3 players, portable cleaners and portable computers are just to name a few.

Even if you’re not a technical person, it can be safely said that portability is already in your system. Do you have a portable bed – the one that easily folds? How about a portable stove? Backpackers usually have this stuff. Or better yet, a portable shaver!

Going back to gadgets, just a little less than 10 years ago, computers were just equipments we had at home. Now, you can see almost anyone working on laptops in malls, cafes. Even for students, carrying notebooks has been replaced by carrying electronic notebooks, those that you would normally call, a laptop.

Having portable gadgets can be very useful especially when you’re always mobile. Like businessmen who are always traveling. It would help if they had their own printers to go along with their laptops. And the best laptop printer for those individuals is the portable, small, and compact type, which can easily fit into their baggage. Yes, printing technology has already come to a point where they have created printers that are small enough to carry around. Isn’t it cool?

Odds are there are also times when you needed a printer yourself. This might be when you were somewhere making some sale and you needed somewhat decent or professional looking documents to make the pitch. It might also be when you relocated into another town to look for a job. Having the best laptop printer could have really made things easier for you. Instead of looking for the internet café to have your CV printed, you could have even saved some money and even time if you had your own printer. These are just a few situations where having a handy printer would have worked out for you.

So if you’re one of those people who move around a lot, why don’t you include in your “must have” list a portable printer? While, you’re at it, make it the best laptop printer that would come hand in hand with your portable notebook. After all, you are living a portable lifestyle.
