Increasing productivity doesn’t require a babysitter.
Posted on June 3rd, 2009 No commentsWhen people start to focus on increasing productivity they tend to feel like they don’t have the discipline to be as productive as they should be. There are plenty of tools around designed specifically for increasing productivity. If you search the web you can find a lot off little browser add-ons or programs to help keep you focused. A few examples that I’ve come across are programs like JDarkRoom or MeeTimer. JDakrRoom allows you to be more productive by removing all other distractions. You get an entirely blank page to type on, this way you’re not distracted by emails, the internet or any other digital diversion that can keep you from doing what you’re doing. MeeTimer is a FireFox add-on that monitors your time online. It groups your activities and gives you statistics about what you’re actually doing. It also has a “LinkWarn” and “TabWarn” feature that discourages you from procrastinating before opening new pages. We’re all adults and don’t necessarily need baby sitters but little tools to assist us in increasing productivity can be profoundly beneficial.
